About This Test

The Assam Direct Recruitment (ADRE) Grade III examination is conducted by the State Level Recruitment Commission (SLRC) under the Government of Assam to fill a wide range of Class III posts such as Junior Assistant, Cashier, Accounts Assistant, Computer Operator, Stenographer, Driver, and other ministerial and technical positions across various state government departments. ADRE Grade III is one of the most competitive recruitment examinations in Assam, with lakhs of candidates appearing in every cycle for thousands of vacancies. The Grade III examination is conducted separately for three qualification categories — Bachelor's Degree (Graduation) level, HSSLC (Class XII) level, and HSLC (Class X) level for Driver posts. Candidates appear only in the paper that corresponds to their post category and educational qualification. The selection process consists of a written examination, followed by a skill test or computer proficiency test for applicable posts, document verification, and final merit list preparation. The exam is conducted in OMR-based offline mode, and the question paper is available in Assamese, Bengali, Bodo, English, and Hindi mediums.

The ADRE Grade III written examination for Bachelor's Degree level posts consists of 150 questions to be completed within 3 hours. The paper has six sections — Social Studies, General Knowledge, Logical Reasoning and Mental Ability, General Mathematics, General English, and Reading Comprehension and English Language. Out of these, 125 questions carry 1 mark each, while 25 questions from the Reading Comprehension and English Language section carry 2 marks each, making the total marks 175. Negative marking of 0.25 marks is applied for each wrong answer on 1-mark questions, and 0.50 marks is deducted for each wrong answer on 2-mark questions. The HSSLC level paper also consists of 150 MCQs for 150 marks across five sections — Social Studies, General Knowledge, Logical Reasoning and Mental Ability, General Mathematics, and General English — with each question carrying 1 mark and negative marking of 0.25 marks per incorrect answer. The HSLC level Driver paper follows the same structure of 150 MCQs for 150 marks but includes an additional section on Road Transport covering traffic rules, vehicle regulations, and road safety. Across all categories, the syllabus covers Indian and Assam history, geography, polity, and economy under Social Studies; current affairs, general science, sports, and important events under General Knowledge; analogy, classification, series, coding-decoding, and pattern recognition under Reasoning; arithmetic topics like number system, percentage, ratio, profit and loss, time and work, and mensuration under Mathematics; and grammar, vocabulary, comprehension, and sentence structure under English.
