About This Test

The SSC GD Constable examination is conducted by the Staff Selection Commission to recruit Constable (General Duty) and Rifleman (General Duty) for Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) including BSF, CISF, CRPF, ITBP, SSB, SSF, Assam Rifles, and the Narcotics Control Bureau. This is one of the largest recruitment drives in the country, with over 25,000 vacancies announced in recent cycles and lakhs of candidates competing from every state. The minimum educational qualification required is a Class 10 (Matriculation) pass from a recognized board, making this exam accessible to a wide pool of candidates. The selection process consists of a Computer-Based Test (CBT), followed by a Physical Efficiency Test (PET), Physical Standard Test (PST), Detailed Medical Examination (DME), and Document Verification. The CBT is the first and most critical stage, as candidates are shortlisted for all subsequent stages based on their performance in the written examination.

The SSC GD Constable CBT consists of 80 multiple-choice questions carrying a total of 160 marks, to be completed within 60 minutes. The exam is divided into four sections with equal weightage — General Intelligence and Reasoning (20 questions, 40 marks), General Knowledge and General Awareness (20 questions, 40 marks), Elementary Mathematics (20 questions, 40 marks), and English or Hindi (20 questions, 40 marks). Each correct answer earns 2 marks, and 0.25 marks are deducted for every wrong answer. The difficulty level of the paper is set at the Matriculation (Class 10) standard. The CBT is conducted in English, Hindi, and 13 regional languages including Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu. Reasoning covers topics like analogy, classification, coding-decoding, series, and non-verbal reasoning. General Awareness focuses on current affairs, Indian history, geography, polity, and general science. Mathematics includes arithmetic topics such as number system, percentage, ratio, time and distance, profit and loss, and basic geometry. The language section tests grammar, vocabulary, comprehension, and sentence structure.
